This game, like the Miami game should not have really been close at all, but like the Miami game…it was. Maryland should have walked away easily with the win, but this game was no cakewalk for the Terrapins. The Terrapins were third in the Big Ten standings, while the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State won the Summit League Conference tournament to get in.

The first half almost doomed the Jackrabbits.  S.D. State was ice-cold shooting collectively in the first half. The Jackrabbits shot just 26.5 percent in the half; however, they were much better in the second half. They ended up rebounding that awful first half by scoring fifty-two points in the second half. Head Coach Scott Nagy said of it, “We just were so bad offensively in the first half…We scored 52 points in the second half. So we clearly played better offensively.” And according to S.D. State big man, the players never gave up…even though they were down big at the half. The Jackrabbits eventually fought their way back to within three with about a minute left, but after fouls and turnovers, the lead increased to five. The Jackrabbits would get hot again though and brought the lead back to two with about :13 left. A costly turnover sealed the deal for the Terrapins with about three seconds left, and Maryland’s Rasheed Sulaimon put the ball in the hoop for the last score.

The Terrapins will move on to play Hawaii, who upset Cal in the first round on Sunday.
