Duke

If you’re a follower of Duke basketball, the last name Plumlee rings a bell.  From Miles Plumlee to Mason Plumlee and now to Marshall Plumlee, these brothers have anchored the paint for the Blue Devils for years and years.  With Miles, now a Milwaukee Buck, and Mason, now a Portland Trailblazer, Marshall is the last of the legacy the family has left in the program, and he doesn’t want to be known as the forgotten one.  The senior poured in 23 points as his Blue Devils overcame a halftime deficit to defeat the Seahawks of UNC Wilmington.  Plumlee was an impressive 9-10 from the field and 5-6 from the free-throw line. He also pulled down eight rebounds and blocked three shots.  Grayson Allen and Brandon Ingram did what they do best for the Blue Devils: score.  Allen added 23 points of his own to go with 10 rebounds a 5 assists, and Ingram notched 20 points and 9 rebounds.  The Seahawks, winners of the Colonial Athletic Association, gave Duke all they could handle.  UNC Wilmington led the entire first half, but the momentum started to shift when Duke’s Brandon Ingram nailed a three right before halftime to cut Wilmington’s lead to three.  In the second half, Duke was able to sustain and maintain a lead despite many shots at a comeback by the Seahawks.  Wilmington had four players in double figures.  Senior Craig Ponder led the way with 22 points, while Chris Flemmings, Denzel Ingram, and CJ Bryce added 18, 17, and 16 respectively.

Duke will move on into the round of 32 where they will face the twelfth-seeded Yale Bulldogs who upset the fifth-seeded Baylor Bears.
