1st Round East Region: Kentucky too much for Stony Brook

Kentucky

Kentucky boasts one of the most talented backcourts in all of college basketball with Tyler Ulis and Jamal Murray.  These two will be able to carry the Wildcats a long way into the tournament and carry them they did over Stony Brook.  Ulis, the star sophomore point guard and one of ten players named to the Naismith Award watch list, dropped ten points and added 7 assists in the blowout win over the Seawolves of the American East Conference.  Freshman phenom Jamal Murray scored a team-high 18 points, while Isaiah Briscoe, Skal Labissiere, and Alex Poythress chipped in with 13, 12, and 12 respectively.  Murray is expected to follow the likes of former Wildcats such as Karl Anthony-Towns, Anthony Davis, and John Wall and declare for the NBA draft after his freshman season.  After a great regular season for Stony Brook, they received a tough draw in the first round in Kentucky, who in my opinion are one of the most dangerous teams in all of college basketball.  The Seawolves were led in scoring by senior forward Jameel Warney scored a game-high 23 points in the losing effort.  Stony Brook never had a lead in this game as Kentucky led wire to wire as they pulled away with a decisive win.

Kentucky will move on to face the Indiana Hoosiers and their talented point guard Yogi Ferrell.  This round of 32 matchup includes two of the most decorated programs in the history of college basketball.
