Johnny in jeopardy

Last Friday, February 5, 2016 Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel became the most recent NFL player to be accused of domestic violence. “Johnny Football was accused of punching his ex, Colleen Crowley, in the face, dragging her by the hair into his car, and threatening ‘to kill her and himself.'” News out of Dallas says that Manziel was on “something” implying that either drugs and/or alcohol were involved.

Crowley told police according to Channel 8 WFAA out of Dallas, “He grabbed me by my hair and threw me back into the car and got back in himself. He hit me with his open hand on my left ear for jumping out of the car. I realized immediately that I could not hear out of that ear, and I still cannot today, two days later.”

When the story broke out of Dallas, Manziel denied wrongdoing saying rather bluntly, “It didn’t happen. I am 100% committed to playing football.”

His father, Paul Manziel, said, “We’re trying to get our son better. We’re not there yet.”

This is not the first time Manziel has been accused of wrongdoing since he entered the league after the 2014 draft. Recently, he was absent during the season finale for the Browns, as he was allegedly spotted in a blonde wig and sunglasses in Las Vegas. He was also put on the NFL’s concussion protocol, but he skipped that meeting allegedly because he was still in Las Vegas.

Manziel is originally from Tyler, Texas, one  hour and 35 minutes from Dallas-Fort Worth. Manziel gained fame when he won the Heisman Trophy while attending Texas A&M University, leading them to an eleven-win Season, even knocking off the Alabama Crimson Tide. Manziel would leave after his sophomore season.

On March 1, 2016, the first official day of the offseason, the Browns will release Manziel. Many analysts say that “Johnny Football” is finished in the NFL. It will be a “shock” if a team signs him this offseason.
