Will Cutler be any better this year?

Last year, about this time, I wrote an article about an ESPN insider article that I skimmed over about Jay Cutler, MVP candidate. At the end, I came to the conclusion that it could happen. However, as we all know…it didn’t. Last year, Cutler threw 18 interceptions and fumbled 12 times. Things did not go well for the 31-year-old quarterback. This year I want to pose somewhat the same question. Will this finally be Cutler’s season to shine? Or will the Bears QB be once again lumped in with other terrible quarterbacks like Matt McGloin, Brian Hoyer, or Geno Smith? Honestly, from a statistical standpoint, Cutler is not horrendous. Minus the interceptions and fumbles, Cutler was not horrible. He passed upwards of 3,000 yards with a 66% completion rate. That is not bad.

This week was opening week for the NFL. The Bears played division rival Green Bay Packers. The game started off kind of slow. It was 7-3 Bears at the end of the first quarter and then 10-3 at halftime. The Packers ended up winning 31-23. Cutler, himself had a rather nice line, 18/36 with 225 yards. He also threw for one touchdown but also threw a crucial pick late in the fourth quarter.

Right now, it is too early to tell if Cutler will be good. They have only had one game. In that game, he did not look too shabby. However there is still room for improvement. A couple of years ago, he signed a seven-year, one hundred twenty-six million dollar contract. Analysts say that might be the worst contract ever given to a QB in NFL history. I can’t help but agree with them. Even though I myself am a Chicago Bears fan, the Bears were idiots to make that deal. Personally, I have still the same stance as I did last year. NO. Cutler just doesn’t have it. Fans in Chicago don’t really even like him. He needs to be traded. I personally want him to get out of Chicago. Go to a team that needs him like Jacksonville or Cleveland.
