The school year is almost half-way over and most of us seniors are staring college right in the face. Not only is it an exciting time, but it’s also a very stressful time. There are so many options in front of us: admission essays, which college to choose, what major to accept, what classes to take and admission deadlines are right around the corner. Then, pile that on top of another list of worries and things to do, and the ever worming thought in our heads buried there by our parents that the choices we make now will affect our futures forever. Which we used to ignore this, but it is now becoming reality; it’s nerve-racking for sure. With all this weight already on our shoulders is there any way to make college planning a little less stressful? Well, here are a few resources I have come across that have been so helpful and super convenient as well because you can find them in the app store or on the internet (links are at the bottom)!
First of all, I came across this web app called, Minnesota College Planner. It was designed by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education, and it can be used to streamline the application process, giving information about how much a college costs, what they are looking for, and what classes to take for certain careers, and much more. All the information is right there in your hand. It is definitely worth checking out; this app should help quite a bit. There is also the website, bigfuture.com, which is extremely useful. It helps to get things straightened out even better, and I recommend using it 100%. These two apps are perfect if things are feeling all over the place and there is desperate need for organizing yourself.
If the application process is in the works already then this next app would be particularly handy. College Planning A-Z is an android app that has plenty of organized information and tips for college bound students. The information given in the app is from a college admission consultant, so it’s all reliable and will ease the process of filling out college applications.
Planning for college has been one of my biggest stresses lately. I didn’t think anything out there could help but thankfully I stumbled across these resources and they have made things much easier. It’s a short list but the internet and the app store are full of helpful tools; these are just a few of my favorites. Not only seniors but freshman, sophomores, juniors, anyone who plans on going to college should utilize these apps. College planning should be exciting and stress-free! These resources will help to make it that way.
