As a senior, I am constantly presented with opportunities to celebrate my last year at JHS. Some opportunities, like the senior trip, I jumped on and others, like the senior block, I didn’t care for. Unfortunately, I’ve regretted some of the things I’ve missed out on. While thinking back to all the things I did and didn’t do during high school, I remembered how my parents always told me to live my life.
My parents have told me over and over to “make the most of my senior year,” and before that, they told me to “make the most of my time at high school” and before that to “enjoy being a kid.” All my life, I have been cautioned to enjoy my life instead of getting hung up on all the little things that constantly get me down.
I’ve found that this is some of the best advice I’ve ever heard, but I would add something to it. You should make the most of your life and without any hesitation. If you’re presented with an opportunity to do something amazing, take that opportunity before it disappears.
Two summers ago, I had the chance to do something I had always wanted to experience but never thought I would do: ride a motorcycle. At first I was terrified to even get on, but I’m glad I did. After five minutes I had finally calmed down enough to enjoy the rest of the ride. It was so much fun, and I can’t wait to go riding again. I marked another thing off my bucket list and moved on to the next thing like visiting another country.
As the school year ends and life moves on, I advise everyone to take opportunities when they present themselves and to enjoy life without fear or hesitation. Join a new club, take a road trip, go to a concert, enter a contest, introduce yourself to someone new, and enjoy life while you’re living it. Live freely, confidently and with no regrets. Take my parents’ advice and make the most of your life!
