It will be a day worth celebrating when spring finally makes its way to Jacksonville. It has been a bone-chilling winter and the idea of a fifty-five degree day sounds like a hot afternoon in the middle of July. After enduring severe bouts of cabin fever due to the weather, we’re all anxious to get outside this upcoming season and enjoy the warmer air. There’s not much of a wait left now. Soon all of the colors of spring will be returning, and we’ll get a break from these dull, cold, and gray mornings. All that spring sunshine that will be pouring through the windows will provide a much needed boost of energy to put an end to everyone’s winter blues, and knowing that there won’t be a need to put on a hundred layers before walking out the door will lessen the desire to stay hidden in bed all day.
There is a downside to spring. If procrastination wasn’t enough of a problem before, it could be now. Has there ever been a time when doing a mountain of work sounded better than being outside on a day full of sunshine and perfect weather? Probably not. It’s nearly impossible to stay focused when the season is practically begging you to come outside, but that’s what spring break is yet another upside to spring that we are all looking forward to. Even though it’s sort of like waving summer in our faces, it doesn’t lower the level of excitement one bit.
So, the countdown until spring begins. That gorgeous weather is right around the corner. Before we know it, winter will be over and spring will be in full swing and leading to summer.
