Olivia Newton-John dies of breast cancer

Olivia Newton-John died at her summer home on August 8, 2022.  She left a huge legacy in music and movies. 

Olivia Newton-John was born in Cambridge in 1948. In the mid 60’s, she began her performing career in  local television shows including Time for Terry, Boomerside, and Funny Things Happen Down Under. In 1978, she landed perhaps her most famous role as “Sandy” in the movie adaptation of Grease.

Newton-John also was an environmental advocate and humanitarian. She was the first Goodwill ambassador of the United Nations Environment Programme  as well as a spokesperson for the Children’s Health Environmental Coalition. Even when she was diagnosed with cancer, she founded her charity called the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund. Her charity sponsors global research in plant medicine for cancer. 

All of her achievements and the mark she left on all the hearts of her fans will ensure that her legacy will be remembered.
