9/11: America observes 20 years

September 11, 2001 was just a normal day in New York City and the rest of the country. The terrorist attacks on September 11 showed that no one is safe anywhere. American Airlines Flight 11 was piloted by plot leader Mohammed Atta. This plane struck the North Tower at 8:46. United Airlines Flight 175 was piloted by hijacker Marwan Al Shehhi and struck the South Tower at 9:03. The South Tower collapsed first at 9:59. Then at 10:28 the North Tower collapsed. The tower was burning for 102 minutes when it finally collapsed.

The North Tower was hit at 8:46 AM in New York by terrorists affiliated with Al Qaeda. Then at 10:28 it finally collapsed. Abdul Aziz al Omari, Wail al Shehri, Waleed al Shehri, and Satam al Suqami were the terrorists all on the American Airlines Flight 11 that crashed into the North Tower.

United Airlines Flight 175 was the plane that hit the South Tower at 9:03 AM. It only took 56 minutes for the tower to collapse; it collapsed at 9:59. Fayez Banihammad, Ahmed al Ghamdi, Hamza al Ghamdi, Marwan al Shehhi, and Mohand al Sheri were the terrorists that crashed into the South Tower. 

After all of this happened in New York, there were 343 firefighters that died. There were also 3,000 casualties and long term health problems in the future for people.
