After the well-received premiere movie The Amazing Spider-Man, Marvel Studios will release the promising sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on May 2. With never-before-seen action, movie-goers and comic fans alike are anticipating the big-budget film.
The first film in the franchise, The Amazing Spider-Man, was released by Marvel Studios in conjunction with Columbia Pictures. The movie was well-received and raked in over $750 million at the box office. With these successful figures, the filmmakers were eager to produce a sequel.
This sequel will star a reprise of the main characters with Andrew Garfield in the main role of Peter Parker (alias Spider-Man). Parker’s love interest, Gwen Stacy, is played by Emma Stone. In addition to this, other supporting actors include Jamie Foxx, who plays the story’s villain, Electro, as well as Dane Dehaan who plays Harry Osborn, Peter’s friend.
The plot starts off with Parker enjoying life as Spider-Man. He loves being the hero, swinging from building to building, and spending time with his girlfriend, Gwen. This adventurous, yet satisfying life is put on hold, however, when the evil Electro emerges from the depths of Parker’s past. As Spider-Man struggles to fight his foe, he begins to wonder about the secretive past of his own father, who died when he was a boy. With the help of a long-lost friend, Harry Osborn, he tries desperately to solve the mysteries behind his father’s work and discovers something even more sinister—the origins of the monsters and enemies that he has encountered all derive from Osporp (the scientific research company his dad worked for). Despite the overpowering forces against him, Peter must find a way to overcome. In the process, he discovers that the true struggle he has is with himself—the battle between juggling a normal life and being a city-saving superhero.
With a multitude of questions unanswered, audiences look forward to seeing all the curve balls that await in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The unexpected twists and the effective actors will leave viewers begging for more.
