In the second installment of The Hunger Games trilogy, the story follows Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) as they return home victorious from the 74th Hunger Games. Soon after their reunion with friends and family, Katniss and Peeta must embark on a “Victor’s Tour” across the country. Along the way, they are faced with evidence of a coming rebellion. As Katniss worries about her influence in the resistance of oppression and the peoples’ hatred for the Capital, President Snow prepares for the 75th Annual Hunger Games where previous victors must fight for their lives again. Panem is sure to change forever.
On November 22, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be released to theaters. With a new director and increased budget, this movie is expected to open to rave reviews and devoted fans.
The movie stars Jennifer Lawrence who plays the female heroine Katniss Everdeen. Lawrence is an up-and-coming star whose first big break was the lead in Winter’s Bone in 2010. Lawrence also stared in the first movie of this trilogy which could be described as the chance of a lifetime. Since then she has won an Oscar and is slated to appear in eight movies in the future.
Lawrence’s costar is Josh Hutcherson who plays Peeta Mellark. Hutcherson started his career early, staring in Little Manhattan and Zathura: A Space Adventure in 2005 when he was only 13 years old. He’s been in 35 movies and TV shows during his career and is currently working on four more movies that open in the coming years.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire also stars Liam Hemsworth, Sam Clafin, Jena Malone, Woody Harrelson, Stanely Tucci, and Willow Shields.
So far the movie has received good reviews despite a new director and difficult production decisions. The film is rated PG-13 and will have an early showing (8:00p.m.) at Stadium Cinemas in South Jacksonville on Friday, November 21.
