Joe Brannan: Our player of the week

Joe Brannan

One of our very own, Joe Brannan was one of five players nominated for WDBR’s player of the week contest.  The nominees are chosen from those featured in the Springfield newspaper for football that week. The nominees are from the surrounding area and players win by getting the most votes.

Joe first started playing football in 8th grade. He planned on playing in high school, but all his friends talked him into playing in 8th grade and he has loved playing ever since! Joe is the quarterback for our Jacksonville Crimsons. He helps lead our team to victory every Friday night; even though sometimes we lose, we’re still proud to have Joe as our quarterback! Even though Joe lost the player of the week contest, he’s still our player of the week, and we’re honored to have one of our very own nominated! Joe is also looking to play football in college, but he’s not for sure just where yet.

Joe loves playing football and has a strong passion and love for the game. When asked why he plays football, he said, “I love the brotherhood you have with your teammates and the rush of adrenalin you get while playing!” Coach Grounds our football coach here at JHS said,”I think he is a quality student in the classroom. The type of habits you have in the classroom carry over onto the field. He has been very studious with what he needs to do to improve. He is a great teammate and an extremely hard worker.” When asked how he felt about Joe being nominated for player of the week, Grounds stated, “As a quarterback, I always tell them when things go well you always get way too much of the credit, and when things go bad you get way too much of the blame, but the thing about Joe he is very steady. He’s always even keel emotionally and tries to make the people around him better and I think it’s a great honor.”  Joe has been playing for the Jacksonville Crimsons for four years and has enjoyed every minute of it. When asked how his time has been playing for the Crimsons he said, “It’s been an honor to put on the red and white every Friday night, and it’s sad knowing those days are counting down quickly.”
