Jacksonville's Brady Kaufmann shoots best round ever

Brady Kaufmann, a Jacksonville High School senior, has a chance to play at the IHSA State Tournament for golf. Kaufmann won the class 2A sectional championship in Metamora shooting 1 under par 70 to win. Kaufmann is the only one from the golf team to go to the state tournament. Kaufmann said, “It felt great to win the 2A sectional. I was really confident going into the round and to get the job done was pretty exciting.”

Brady Kaufmann shot the best at the Links in Jacksonville. He shot a 32 on the front 9 and on the back 9.  Kaufmann said, ¨I was able to shoot my best round ever by practicing every day and staying focused on every shot during the round.¨

Kaufmann will be heading to state on October 8th and 9th in Normal. Kaufmann’s mindset going into the tournament is “to just go out there and play my game and stay in the moment. Try not to get too high after a good hole and try not to get too low after a bad hole and go out there and try to make a lot of birdies and see if we can win a state title.¨

Kaufmann is heading to SIUE to play golf and one day be on the PGA Tour.
