The power to command armies is at any players’ fingertips when they play the newest addition to The Lord of the Rings game series, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Players play as Talion (Troy Baker, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare), who is a Ranger of Gondor that lives with his family at the Black Gate before the Uruk invasion of Mordor. The game also takes place in between The Hobbit timeline and The Lord of the Rings timeline. The game starts its tutorial with Talion sparring with his son, Dirhael (Jack Quaid, The Hunger Games), and sneaking up on his wife Ioreth (Laura Bailey, Lego Batman: Beyond Gotham) both events teach the very practical skills of fighting and stealth in the game.
Besides the main character and his family, the game has many interesting characters, both good and bad. The main evil characters include the Hammer of Sauron (John DiMaggio, Adventure Time), the Tower of Sauron (JB Blanc, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End), and the Black Hand of Sauron (Nolan North, Saints Row IV). Those three form the most deadly trio I’ve seen in any game I’ve played called The Black Captains. Now, the good guys other than Talion, include Hirgon (Travis Willingham, Far Cry 4), Lithariel (Abigail Marlow, Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Torvin (Adam Croasdell, Dead Island Riptide), Celebrimbor (Alastair Duncan, Mass Effect 3), and Ratbag (Phil LaMarr, Star Wars Rebels). All of these characters help Talion achieve his ultimate goal, revenge.
The game is full of adventure, action, and amazing abilities. One of those abilities is called brand. Brand allows you to take controls of Uruks to help you in your struggles in Mordor. Eventually, you’ll have five Warchiefs under your control.
I would personally give this game a 9.8/10 for an outstanding experience and never-ending fun. IMDb.com has an average rating of 8.8/10.
