In past years, the Jacksonville J’ettes high school dance team has been known for competing every year and qualifying for state almost every year. This year is no different, as the J’ettes go to their first competition of the season in Belleville this weekend. The J’ettes will have three competitions to qualify for State. The dancers and the coaches have been working really hard to get their routines competition ready.

Since this year there is a JV and a Varsity team, they will each compete two routines. The Varsity team will be competing a very upbeat Pom Dance routine and a super cool hip-hop routine. On the other hand, the JV team will be competing a Pom Routine and a beautiful Lyrical routine. The Pom routine for varsity was choreographed by one of the coaches Tiffany Hickox and co-captain Camri Middleton. The hip-hop routine was made up by a choreographer named Redd and co-captain Emilie Bezler. The JV pom routine was choreographed by coach, Stephanie Bezler, with some help from Emilie Bezler, and the JV lyrical routine was choreographed by varsity member Anna Bezler.

With the competition being this coming weekend, both teams have been in full focus mode. They have had three practices a week and even a couple on the weekends. They hope to qualify their routines as soon as possible. This year, there will be three dancers competing in the solo category. Anna Bezler, Emilie Bezler, and Camri Middleton will being trying to qualify their solos for State. Emilie Bezler went to an event called “Start the Beat” and won in the solo category which earned her an automatic bid to State. Those three girls will be competing at the J’ette competitions all season. Let this exciting season begin.
