New season for the J’ettes

Anna Bezler, Staff Writer

The J’ettes dance team is known for dancing at basketball games, competing, and just being great role models and supporters of Jacksonville High School. They are very popular in Jacksonville and all of them are very talented and do a lot for the community. Just recently, they had tryouts for the upcoming season. The girls trying out had to tryout with pre-lims and the final tryout. Pre-lims consisted of the girls showing skills, doing a solo, and learning a combo to be judged on right away. At the final tryout they were judged on a routine that they were taught in two days with the styles of jazz, kick, pom, and hip-hop in it. It was a very intense tryout and the girls had to show the judges that they are worthy of being on the team. Grades and behavior are also a huge factor. After lots of thought, the coaches finally chose their 2017-18 team.

The coaches are Katie Armstrong, Sara Gray, Tiffany Hickox, and Stephanie Bezler. Hickox took a one-year break and decided that she will be coming back to take on this wonderful team. Bezler will be a junior varsity coach for this season. The captains this year are Emilie Bezler and Camri Middleton. The squad leaders are Anna Bezler, Jordan Brockhouse, Sydney Hembrough, Sarah May, and Sara Wilson. Those seven girls will be responsible for helping out the girls all season and being wonderful leaders. The remaining seniors are Regan Davis, Jocelyn Fuhr, and Breanne Kauffman. The remaining juniors are Chloe Burrus, Grayson Moore, and Olivia Pine. The sophomores are Gabbi Meehan and Paige Scaman. And the new incoming freshmen are Dani Dillard, Kat Fuhr, Paige Hadden, Esha Kulkarni, Millie Pine, Layne Rogers, Amelia Symons, Grace Turner, Claire Van Aken, Julianne Wilson, and Paiten Wilson. There is lots of talent on this new team. It will be a wonderful year!!
