The Jacksonville J’ettes competition season has officially started. During the next couple months, the J’ettes will be performing at the JHS Bowl for boys basketball games, traveling to various places to compete with their competition routines, and hopefully advancing to state.
During the competition season last year, the J’ettes were able to advance to state and receive second place overall in the Pom division. For this year, the J’ettes have been working on three competition routines for their upcoming competition season. They will be competing in the Pom division again, as well as kick and dance. So far, the J’ettes have completed their Kick competition routine which was showcased at their annual Pom Revue fundraiser and the first JHS boys basketball game. This kick routine is especially tiring with over 90 kicks and complex turn combinations. As of right now, the J’ettes are working on their Pom competition routine. For this year’s competition sesason, the J’ettes will be competing at multiple high schools across central Illinois and hopefully moving on to state in Peoria at the Civic Center on February 14.
With an overwhelming 25 girls on the J’ettes dance squad this year, captain Lauren Bezler is especially excited to see what is to come for the J’ettes. She has high hopes for the J’ettes this year and their upcoming competition season.
