Hundreds of streamers are hung along with posters in every hallway and duct taped names covered the cafeteria this week as a result of the Senior Girls’ Overnight last Friday night. It went from 10:30 at night until about 4 the next morning, and even though many girls had different activities the next morning, it didn’t stop them from doing their fair share of decorating.
Signs for different things were hung everywhere saying everything you could think of including “The boys are hot, the girls are fine, we’re the class of 6+9” and “Blast the panthers.” Senior girls on sports teams showed spirit by decorating the tops of their JV and juniors’ locker and also decorated posters for their sport. A group of girls, including Cheyanne Jockisch, also advertised the “neon out” which is taking place at the Homecoming game on Friday. Many seniors also kept themselves busy by blowing up balloons and making posters to hang outside of their favorite teachers’ classrooms.
Names didn’t start being taped up in the cafeteria until about 1:45 in the morning, and with only a couple ladders, it was somewhat stressful. As easy as it looks to put duct tape on a wall, it proved to be a lot more work than most thought and lunch tables are a lot sturdier than they look.
Things were pretty calm until the last hour and a half when some girls took the initiate to really get things done. Senior Gabbi Mann said they were “literally running up and down the hallways hanging up posters.”
We did a pretty impressive job decorating the school and to see kids ripping down streamers and decorations is kind of disheartening. So the next time you are close to pulling down a streamer hanging in your way, calmly walk around it and appreciate all the time it took to make our school look festive.
