On Friday April 25, 2014, the University of Illinois gained one of the highest recruited offensive linemen in Illinois, Gabe Megginson. Being the older brother of Gabe, I obviously support him in every aspect of his football career, but all the hard work and drive he has in during the offseason, the diets, and insane workouts twice a day, gained him national recognition. Ranked the second best lineman in Illinois, the 6’5, 270-pound man child turned down offers from prestigious schools such as Ohio State, Penn State, Mizzou, and Miami. All combined, he gathered 27 offers. When Gabe elected to stay home and play football for his home state team, it really showed people something about his character. He had the choices to go to many very well-known successful programs and chose to help be a building block in restoring football glory to Illinois. Gabe is not only astounding on the football field he is also member of Big Brothers Big Sisters, and is usually the first person to help when the time is called. Seeing all the interviews of Gabe, one would think he is all work and no play, but I can tell you from experience that there are only a few people on this planet as funny as Gabe. I love living with him because I never know what he’s going to do or when he’s going to do it. We believe in each other and support each other to the fullest extent. Needless to say, I am a very, very proud brother.
