This summer, Ms. Koss, Ms. Cervi, and a group of Spanish 4 and 5 students will be traveling to Spain with EF Tours. The trip is ten days in early June. Once in Spain, JHS students will join an official EF Tour guide to travel from city to city by bus. The focus of the trip is to see historical sights while experiencing Spanish art and literature. On the first full day, students will take a walking tour of Madrid and visit the famous Prado museum with the tour director. The tour of Madrid continues the next day as students are shown the Puerta del sol, Plaza Mayor, Plaza de Oriente, and el Palacio Real (the royal palace). On day four, students are given a full day to shop and explore on their own as this is their last day in Madrid. On day five of this nine day adventure, the group will travel through Toledo to visit the Toledo Cathedral, the Church of Santo Tome, and a synagogue. Next they will continue on to Granada. Here they will take a full guided tour of the city and see the beautiful Alhambra. The next destination is Seville where students have the choice of enjoying a free night or an evening of traditional Spanish Flamenco dancing. Day eight also offers a choice for the group. Students may either relax and explore Costa del Sol or go on an exciting excursion to Morocco. In this unique African country, students will cross the Strait of Gibraltar to see Tetouan, Medina, and Hassan II Square where they will experience a carpet bazaar and shop at a spice store. The final day before the return home is another day in Costa del Sol where the group will visit St. Michael’s Cave. This trip to Spain is a unique learning experience where students will be able to test and advance their Spanish speaking skills while enjoying the beautiful and exciting country of Spain.
