The marching season has finally started, and that means it’s time for color guard to show their stuff! The twirling and spinning and throwing of all the flags definitely makes it a show worth watching. There’s a lot of work that goes into learning the routines and plenty of practices to get to perfection.
Working together is an important rule that allows everyone to get what they need down. “We have been focusing on a lot of teamwork, as well as building confidence,” said Rachel Mansell, the coach of the JHS color guard team. “It’s so easy to get nervous and second guess yourself when you’re on the field, no matter how well you know the show.”
There are three field show competitions coming up in October. “The girls of the color guard team spent their whole summer choreographing the field show themselves,” said Mansell. The theme this year is James Bond, which is sure to be a good show!
