Snow days are rare but when they come around, you have to be prepared. You need to have knowledge of the dos and don’ts of a proper snow day. They consist of four major topics, which are:
Starting off the snow day
Sleep is a privilege, and it’s something that shouldn’t be wasted. Don’t get up too early, but don’t get up too late; around ten or eleven is a good time to get up.
Once you’re up a crazy breakfast is necessary. Maybe cereal and a hamburger or spaghetti and Chinese leftovers. Something essential to a kick off of the day is wearing what you want. Wear your robe if you want to, it doesn’t bother me. After breakfast is when the real fun starts.
Finding some crazy fun
Now it’s up to you to choose what you want to do. You could put in a good movie, or pop out some dance moves on your kitchen table.
You could go outside and build a snowman. Make sure to wear the right gloves because you don’t want your hands to look like they’ve been spray tanned. Been there, but it’s actually not that bad. Make snow angels and write your name in the snow with your buddies.
Ride a four wheeler in the snow and do some donuts. If you don’t have a four wheeler, don’t sweat it. You can build a snow fort or snow chairs and chill in the snow. Have a snow ball fight!
Invite your friends over. Most parents are at work so make a huge mess and clean it up five minutes before they walk in and act naturally. Food fights are always an option. I wouldn’t suggest potatoes though, because if you let them sit they stick to the cabinets. Trust me, I know. Try not to get in trouble though, because it would be a waste of a snow day if you couldn’t do anything. Austin Hunter says, “I wake up around noon, go sledding like a two year old, fall on my butt trying to snow board and spend way too much time trying to build a ramp that we fail on.”
Crazy fun is all around; you just have to find it.
Afternoon parties
In the afternoon it’s nice to sit down and enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate… or have a dance party! Pump up the music and kick off the shoes. You don’t need a lot of people to have a party, but you need the right mind set! If you have a fun, outgoing attitude then everyone else will.
The ending to a great story
When the sun goes down and you are dreading tomorrow, remember that you had a great day and that’s one less day that you had to be at school. Just wait until the weekend and you can find some more things to do. Don’t forget that snow days are rare, so always find something fun to do!
