The JHS WYSE Academic Challenge team took second place at the regional competition on Tuesday, February 5. Several individuals also placed. Junior Jeremiah Roberts took second place in math, and Junior Matthew Freeman received second place in engineering graphics. Junior Ethan Toney claimed first place in engineering graphics and second place in computer science.
The team as a whole was beaten only by the team from Chatham-Glenwood, which won the division 1500 competition.
The competition consisted of seven tests, covering the subjects of Math, English, Computer Science, Engineering Graphics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. Each participant took two tests, which were scored on both an individual and team basis.
The JHS team will be advancing to the Sectional competition, as well as each individual qualifier.
