Last year, JHS had a fund-raising concert for the Jacksonville High School’s choir and drama programs. Even though these are school events, it still costs a lot for props on set and costumes for on stage.
On February 16, 2012, the second annual concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. The cost of tickets will be $5 for adults and $3 for children 10 and younger. People may choose to donate more if they would like.
There is a theme every year for “Sing”. Last year it was Broadway and targeted more of the older audiences who were more into theatre. This year it has been decided that Disney is just the perfect theme. It will be a show that children can make a connection to and will be able to sing along with some songs from their favorite movies!
Cast members are Amber Branch, Brian Leach, Gabe Knott, Megan Heitbrink, Chelsea Achord, Matt Hall, Marie Lockwood, Mr. Chipman and Mrs. Brammeier.
All cast members are excited to reach out to the younger audiences and maybe even in the future, get them interested in the choir and drama programs at JHS when attending.
At the last meeting the discussion was on what songs were going to be sung. Each person involved in “Sing” picks two songs to sing from the character they choose to dress up as and then they send it in to be approved. They will also all be singing three group songs to tie everything together.
Sydney Holloway is helping run the show this year. “Everything you will be seeing on stage will have come from JHS. The cast crew and all the ideas are from JHS. The concert will be helping fund the theatre program, with the budget cuts that have hit everyone. All the Disney music you have loved will be on stage.”
While enjoying this show, you can also help out a great program that keep the students in the JHS theatre program doing what they love.
