Three students got together and decided that JHS needed something new and exciting. A Glee Club is the first thing that came to mind. Amber Branch, Gabe Knott, and Logan Kent are the leaders of this club and they all believe that everything seems to be heading off to a great start.
Mr. Tim Chipman is the teacher sponsor and seemed just as excited as the high school students about it. At the tryouts, you could see the shine in his eyes.
Auditions were Wed. Sept. 5th after school in the auditorium. It started off with freshmen and went up to seniors. Out of the 35 that auditioned, 20 made it. Many were nervous before going up on the stage because it was an open audition. The participants were told to prepare a thirty-second song to sing on stage to the two judges, Amber Branch and Gabe Knott. They also sang a song chosen by the judges.
On Fri. Sept. 7th the club had its first meeting. In this meeting, they talked about what was going to be expected of them, and the first song that they would be performing. Generally, they will be singing pop songs that are on the radio now with hopes to bring excitement to the students of JHS. They meet Mon.-Wed. every week after school and sometimes on weekends.
They will be performing at as many events that they can. Pep rallies and school meetings are some events as well.
Many of people are wondering why we need more musical things in school when Glee Club is not much different than being in another choir. This club is based on working together on music that can be performed for others’ enjoyment. The music will be fully prepared by the JHS students and will be written out into four parts; Alto, Soprano, Bass, and Tenor.
Glee Club is a group that will end up acting as a big family. It gives students the chance to interact and learn more through their love for music. Everyone in the club is looking forward to a great year.
