After a two-year hiatus from the National Football League, quarterback Tim Tebow is BACK. Tebow signed a one-year contract to play for the Philadelphia Eagles. During his time off, he was a reporter on the College Gameday program on ESPN/ESPNU. Before this, he played, most notably, for the Denver Broncos, but also the New York Jets for a season, and briefly for the New England Patriots. The former 2007 Heisman trophy winner was released by the Patriots after the conclusion of the 2013 preseason. When he was released, he tweeted, “I will remain in relentless pursuit of continuing my lifelong dream of being an NFL quarterback.” After his release, he started to work with fellow quarterback, Tom Brady’s coach, Tom House.
Tebow joined the Eagles alongside some other stellar players like former Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray and former St. Louis Ram, Sam Bradford. Philadelphia’s head coach, Chip Kelly said, “I’ve always been a fan of Tim. We bring in a lot of players for private workouts, it’s just he’s the one that everyone keeps talking about. We brought in Terrelle Pryor for a workout and Thad Lewis in for a workout. When players are available for you to work them out it’s the same thing of going to the Veteran Combine or going to the Super Regional Combine. It’s getting an exposure to a player so that when you have to make a decision and say, ‘Hey, what are we going to do now. You say, I don’t know anything about these players. Let’s bring them in and work them out, and it may be too late at that point in time.’ So all we’re doing is just doing our homework.”
However, not everyone in the NFL is a fan of Tebow. Journeyman kicker Jay Feely stated that Tebow is “the single worst quarterback I ever saw in my career in the NFL.”
