Jacksonville High School sophomore, Brady Hays, is known across the area as one of, if not the best player to come across the JHS basketball program in many years. Coming in at 6 foot, 3 inches, this sixteen year old has got it all and early on in his career, too.
Hays averages 17.3 points per game, with a free throw percentage of 79.3. In 2013 Hays started varsity as a freshman late in the season but followed that up with starting every game he was able to play in as a sophomore in the 2014 season. Individual awards that he received were 1st Team All Tournament in the Alton Tip-off Classic, Player of the Game at the 1450 Shootout, and Player of the Game at the I.C. Shootout. He will continue to wear number 11 on the court for Jacksonville High School for two more years. Due to an early ankle injury this past season, followed by a torn meniscus in his knee, Hays was on the sidelines for a good chunk of the season.
Hays said, “My goal is to play college basketball at the highest level that I can compete. When my basketball career is over, I plan to have a degree in a field where I can be successful. When I’m on the court with my teammates, I make it my job to keep my teammates’ heads up and focused. I work as hard as I can every practice and push my teammates to make the whole team better as well.”
Not only does he plan to make a comeback next season, but the entire JHS community has very high hopes for him and is very excited to see what else he can accomplish during his time at JHS.
