After ending with a second place finish in the conference finals to the LA Kings last year, the Chicago Blackhawks have not been having as strong of a season. In the 2012-2013 seasons, they did even better, bringing home the Stanley Cup trophy.
This season has not been so easy for them. As of now, the Blackhawks are ranked third in the Western Conference under the Nashville Predators and the St. Louis Blues and are ranked a disappointing ninth in the National Hockey League. Towards the beginning of the season, the Blackhawks were ahead of the Blues with the second rank in conference, but after a four game losing streak, things changed.
A devastating loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets hit the Blackhawks hard. The Blue Jackets are currently ranked twenty-eighth in the league, with a 24-21 record. The Blue Jackets were actually on a thirteen-game losing streak before they ended it by defeating the Blackhawks. After that game, the Blackhawks lost rank and are slowly making their way down the line, unless they start winning games.
Many Blackhawks fans are waiting in anticipation to see the strong team the Blackhawks were last year come back onto the ice, and there is still time for that. With two and a half months left in regular season, they may be able to prove to all of their fans that they still have their edge and can compete at the playoffs.
