So far in preseason, Illinois College has played three (non-league) games. The IC Blueboys won their first game against Aurora University (49-6). Unfortunately, they lost 74-69 in triple overtime against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and were defeated again by St. Norbert College (32-27).
With a huge win against Aurora University, the Blueboys started off their season right. Head football coach Garrett Campbell shares, “We felt we are a good team and would have a chance to win every game.” Even with the two losses against Rose-Hulman and St. Norbert, Campbell states, “We were and still are very confident in our ability to compete and win games.” IC will have to look past these last two games to focus on their game Saturday, October 5, against Ripon College. Having been successful against this team in past years, Coach Campbell says, “We are very excited to play Ripon this weekend. They present a different challenge than most teams because their style of play is very unique.” When asked how the Blueboys will prepare for this game, Campbell tells, “We actually do not change a lot from week to week.” IC believes strongly in their process and preparation methods to get them through every game. The Blueboys have confidence in their routine and hopefully will come out successful this weekend. Coach Campbell feels secure about the rest of his season and has faith in his team to win every game they play.
On Saturday, October 11, Illinois College will face their long-time rivals, Monmouth College, at Monmouth. Coach Campbell, is excited to see if the Blueboys can prove themselves again as they have done in the past.
