The Seattle Seahawks of the NFC West division are set to take on the Denver Broncos of the AFC West this Sunday in the Super Bowl. The game is to be played at MetLife Stadium in New York. The weather conditions have been the center of talk for the past months because MetLife is an outdoor stadium. The predicted temperature is cloudy with highs in the low 30s. The reason that this is even a topic for controversy is that the Super Bowl is usually played in indoor stadiums or in warm weather cities. MetLife is neither a dome nor in a warm weather city.
Peyton Manning, the NFL MVP, and the high powered offense of the Broncos come into the game with a 13 and 3 regular season record. With a first round bye, the Broncos beat division rival San Diego in the divisional round of the playoffs. Peyton Manning then outdueled his arch nemesis Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game. With a solid defense and the number one scoring offense in the league, Manning & Co look to lead the Broncos to their third Super Bowl title.
The Seattle Seahawks were also 13 and 3 in the regular season. They are led by their dual-threat quarterback Russell Wilson. The Seahawks also have a powerful, downhill runner in Marshawn Lynch. These two go along with the number one defense in the league. The Seahawks were able to reach the Super Bowl with wins over New Orleans in the divisional round and then knocking off division rival San Francisco in the NFC Championship game. In an interview after the NFC title game, flamboyant corner Richard Sherman voiced his opinion that he is the best corner in the league. We will find out when he and the Seattle defense collide with Manning & Co this Sunday.
Game note: Seattle allowed only 213 points in the regular season, the lowest in the NFL. Denver scored the most regular season points with 606. The two different styles should lead to an exciting Super Bowl.
Prediction: Denver 31, Seattle 24.
