This year the JHS boys’ swim team has gotten off to a great start. After the first invite of the year, JHS comes away with a victory over Chatham by a margin of 3 points. “In my five years of coaching we’ve never beat Chatham,” Coach Black said, “and this year we beat them on the first try.” The season looks nothing but optimistic from here. With returning seniors like Chris Colburn and Ethan Toney added to the new talent, there’s no telling what this year’s boys can do.
“It feels good to come out of the invite with such a strong start,” Senior Matthew Freeman had to say, “to start the season with a victory over a tough CS8 conference team like Chatham is the goal of every year. And this is the first year we’ve done it since I’ve been on the team. It means a positive look into the rest of the season for sure.” Other members of the boys’ team were certainly in agreement with Freeman’s statement. Ethan Toney said, “Of all the years I’ve done swimming at JHS, I’m really looking forward to this year. It’s my senior year and it’s exciting to have such a great start to the season. Our times at the invite can only improve from here, and coach is sure to push us now that he knows what we’re capable of.”
The swim team is guaranteed to be looking forward to a great season this year. From the talent and the hard work even down to the fellowship and the friendship between the members, this year’s JHS boys’ swim team is sure to be one that will create some moments to never forget.
