The 2013-2014 boys basketball season is now underway. The first day of practice was on Monday. The Crimsons graduated seven seniors last season. JHS will return a few key players from last year though. Blake Hance, Tyler Ring, Clark Silas and Michael Fisher are all seniors this year. Juniors that will see significant playing time are Nick Kauffman, Zac Lonergan, and Johnny Peak. In addition, juniors Dion Jackson, Aaron Turner, and Cory Baker will see some playing time for the Crimsons. The Crimsons will be a young team with only a few seasoned varsity players.
JHS might be the only team to lose more than they return. The CS8 will be absolutely loaded this year. Chatham will bring back Peyton Allen, who has multiple division one offers. Lincoln brings back senior Max Cook and junior Gavin Block. Both of these players showed what they could don last season in the CS8. Also, Lincoln’s sophomore team lost only one game last season, which was to Jacksonville. Springfield Lanphier brings back Larry Austin and Scotty Wallace. Austin has many offers from D1 schools and plays for the USA Olympic team in the summer. Springfield Southeast brings back six-foot seven inch Jalen Henry. Sacred Heart Griffin returns seniors Malik Turner and Nate Lois. Junior Gabe Green started last season as a sophomore for the Cyclones.
This young Crimson team could take some lumps with the difficulty of the conference, but this team has potential to be a force in the CS8.
