The Jacksonville High volleyball team had a huge week. They had home games on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. They were victorious in all three games, improving their record to 11 wins and 3 losses.
On Monday the Crimsons faced off against the Hawks of Carrolton High School. Jacksonville won in two sets: 25-15 and 25-11. Senior Sarah Thornley and junior Cheyanne Jockisch led the way with six service points apiece for the Crimsons. Sydney Lovekamp and Tiffanie Lacy added five and four, respectively. Jaelyn Keene had seven kills to lead the way for JHS. Abby Tomhave added five more. Maggie McNeal, Thornley, and Keene all had one block apiece for the Crimsons. Thornley had a team and game high 20 assists. Jockisch had four digs, while Keene piled up two.
On Tuesday night, JHS defeated Central State 8 opponent Taylorville. The Crimsons won in two sets: 25-13 and 25-16. Thornley and Jockisch led the way for Jacksonville again with 15 and five service points. Keene, Tomhave, and Jessica Schroeder all had three each for the Crimsons. Keene had nine kills, while Tomhave and Sammi Suttles each added two apiece for Jacksonville. Keene also was the team leader in blocks with two. McNeal and Suttles added one each for the Crimsons. Thornley was the team leader in assists with 11 and Jockisch had four digs to lead JHS.
Thursday night, Jacksonville faced their biggest challenge of week. They defeated Quincy Notre Dame in three sets: 25-19, 20-25, and 25-21. Thornley had a big game for the Crimsons. She had 11 service points and 30 assists. Keene also contributed in many areas, with four service points, 15 kills, three blocks, and six digs. Tomhave recorded 11 service points (three aces), and seven kills. McNeal had seven kills and three blocks. Jockisch added three service points and five digs for the Crimsons. Senior Kaylie Steckel had four service points and four digs. Senior Brook Woods also had two service points for JHS.
Jacksonville will next play Routt on October 7.
