The JHS track team has started their season off right with a home meet at Illinois College and then an away meet at Champaign. Members from both the boys’ and girls’ team went to compete.
The Champaign meet, March 16, was a tough one with about 30 different teams to compete against. However, JHS held their own with students placing in many divisions. About eleven different members from JHS went to compete.
Senior Aaron Vasquez, said, “The Champaign meet was long and tedious and we’re happy that indoor season is over.”
One highlight from the Champaign meet was when senior Reggie Bratton got first place in the 60 meter. Also, senior Brennan Haggerty got sixth place out of 15 and dropped his personal record 10 seconds from his previous meet at Illinois College in the 1600 meter division.
Due to weather, recent track meets have been delayed; however, the next meet is anticipated to be after spring break on April 2 in Lanphier.
