The JHS boys’ swimming season is finally coming to a close. The team had their very last home meet on Saturday, January 26, against O’Fallon. The team will also have their very last conference meet on Saturday, February 2 in Springfield at the Eisenhower pool; this meet will determine who moves onward to sectionals. The season will officially end for anyone who does not advance to sectionals.
Senior team member, Connor Richardson, said, “The most rewarding thing about being on this team is having a good time, making new friends, and getting a good workout in.”
Richardson said, “I will miss my teammates and our coach.” With all of the seniors team members realizing that this will be their very last season swimming for JHS, emotions are high.
There will be six seniors out of 22 members that will leave the JHS Boys Swim Team at the end of this year.
Richardson said, “I will miss the feeling of hearing the buzzer go off and diving into the water. It gives me a real adrenaline rush.”
None of the graduating seniors plan to continue to swim seriously in college. The team is coached by Sam Black.
