After a close loss to SHG the night before, the Crimson boys arrived at Quincy Notre Dame on Saturday ready to play and ready to bring home a win. Despite the team’s efforts, they just couldn’t pull it off for the second night in a row.
By the end of the first quarter, the Raiders had double our score, which eliminated the Crimson’s chances at gaining an early lead. During the second quarter, the JHS boys outscored the QND team, 11-9 but were still behind 25-19 at halftime.
During the third quarter, the Crimsons were falling further behind. When the fourth quarter started, the boys knew they weren’t ready to give up the fight. They outscored QND 22-17 and only lost by 5 points.
There is no doubt this game was very physical for the teams. Jacksonville ended with 24 fouls and Quincy Notre Dame with 23. Both JHS and QND had two players fouled out by the end of the game. For Jacksonville, it was seniors Payton Dugan and Brendan Barlow.
Quincy Notre Dame won 52-47, improving their record to 15-3, and causing Jacksonville’s record to fall to 10-6 overall.
Dugan led the team with 15 points while Barlow and Josh Peak both added 13 each. Peak led the team with 7 rebounds.
The Jacksonville Crimsons will head to Chatham Glenwood for the County Market Winter Classic the week of January 14-19. The Crimsons will play Highland on Monday night at 5 pm.
When asked how he thinks the team will do against Highland, senior Brendan Barlow said, “If we play the way we are capable of playing, it should be a good win. I think after all these losses, we’ll come out hot and get a great win.”
Come out to show your Crimson Pride and support the boys!
