After a loss to Chatham Glenwood last Thursday, the JHS girls’ basketball team went to practice and came to win on Saturday.
The girls went all out in a triumphant attempt to beat Peoria Notre Dame. It started slow, but after trailing 20-19 at the end of the first quarter, the girls knew they needed to step up their game. Jaelyn Keene, Olivia Kaufmann, and Cydny Saxer all helped by starting the second quarter scoring 12 points without letting Peoria score. This massive takeover led to nine Peoria turnovers and a comfortable 35-24 lead going into halftime. The girls continued with their lead and came out on top, winning 60-47.
Keene had 15 points and 14 rebounds with 11 defensive boards. Kaufmann went 9-for-12 including 3-for-4 for 3-pointers.
The Crimsons next game is at Springfield Lanphier at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
