Though the 2012 soccer season is finished, one player is still being honored. Adam Metz, four year varsity letterman and senior co-captain, received the impressive honor of making the All-Sectional team for the seventh region of Illinois.
The 20 coaches of Region 7 meet in Springfield at the end of every season to discuss potential players for the award of the All-Sectional and All-State teams, All-State being the higher of the two.
“When I brought Adam’s name up as candidate for the All-Sectional team, the other coaches agreed that he was a good defender and a smart player and that through his accomplishments he deserved the award,” JHS boys’ head coach Evan Philpott said of Metz.
Adam is only the 34th player in JHS boys’ soccer history to receive this honor.
“It’s a privilege,” Metz said about making the All-Sectional team. “I’m thankful to my coaches and teammates for such a great season.”
Adam Metz does plan to play at the collegiate level. Augustana in Rock Island, Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, and Iowa Central in Fort Dodge, Iowa, are the three main schools Metz is looking into. Loras College is in the third round of Division III national tournament currently. Metz plans to major in business.
