The JHS cheerleading squad is now preparing for the 2012 basketball season. Their football season ended at the last football playoff game on November 3.
This year the squad plans on going to state and placing high. Senior captain Ashley Lind said, “Practices have been going very well. I do want to at least go to state and place better than we did last year.” Last year at state, the cheerleading squad placed 10th out of 30.
The girls are practicing hard, going over the counts for the competition routine, and making sure their flyers are stretched. They plan to go to at least five competitions this year and go to state. Their first competition will be in January.
This basketball season the squad is coached by Christy Buhlig. The captains for basketball games are seniors Bentley Stewart and Erica Howell. The captains for competition are senior Ashley Lind, junior Kaylie Steckel, and sophomore Jori Brennan.
