After a successful girls swimming season, the boys’ team is ready to make its mark. A total of 15 boys were on the swim team last season and coach Sam Black expects to have at least that many if not more. Black stepped up as the head coach of the girls’ team two years ago because of the retirement of the previous coach.
Black says, “Even though it’s a lot of time, it’s worth it. I love swimming and teaching kids how to swim. I also love this age when the kids are peaking in their events. It’s fun to cheer them on and help them achieve their goals.”
This will be Black’s fourth year as the boys swim coach. They expect to have around ten swim meets in their season not including post season. As of right now, three of those ten meets will be at home. The boys have practice on Monday-Thursday at Illinois College’s Bruner Fitness Center from 6-7:30 p.m.
