On Friday, October 12, a home football game was full of excitement and sorrow. The Crimsons charged towards their win over Breese Mater Dei with an ending score of 41-14.
This game was full of emotions as this game landed them a placement in playoffs. Since this was JHS’s fifth win of the season and the score difference was large, the team qualified.
We had plenty of cheering fans in the stands as this was their very last home game of regular season for this year.
It was an emotional night for all the senior football boys, cheerleaders, and band members. Each senior and his or her parents walked out onto the field during halftime as they were recognized.
While all the football boys knew this game would determine if they were in playoffs or not, they fought their hardest. It seems as though the senior boys also knew this was their last home game, and they wanted to make it one to remember.
Senior, Aaron Vasquez, had one of the more highlighted moments as he had an interception and ran a 100 yard dash across the field to score a touchdown.
Junior, Blake Hance, also had an incredible interception with a one-handed catch.
Along with these touchdowns, senior Reggie Bratton also had an interception running 77 yards towards a touchdown.
Senior, Aaron Vasquez, said, “We played as a team and because of that we came out on top. However, our team’s talent is what made it a blowout instead of keeping it a close game.”
Friday, October 19 was the very last game of regular season. It was a tough game against Rochester. Unfortunately, JHS lost with a score of 35-14.
Rochester’s football team has been state champs for two years in a row now. JHS knew it’d be a hard game, but they fought as best as they could.
“It was a tough loss. Rochester’s a state champion team. If it weren’t for two alignment mistakes, the score would have been 21-14 and who knows what could have happened from there” said Vasquez.
The team is now preparing for playoffs that will begin on Saturday the 27. JHS will play against Centralia.
