Upon leaving high school, you’ll probably be asked what you want to take with you when you leave. It’s a common question and you never really think much about it until the time comes that you really do have to leave. Some people say they’ll take their car, clothes, or money. But what about something with sentimental value? What about something that means more to us than money or cars?
What do I want to take on my trip out of here? Why is it so important to choose wisely? You’re just leaving high school, they say. But it’s a lot more than that. When I leave, I’m bringing along something that means more to me than a car ever will. I’ll take with me some of the amazing memories I’ve made with my friends and other classmates, and I’ll take with me pictures of some of the times we shared. Choosing wisely is important because you don’t want to overpack, of course, but you also want to bring great stories to tell whenever you go somewhere new.
The more I get packed and ready to leave, the more unprepared I become. I realize that I may not be as ready as I say I am, I’m not actually ready to move on somewhere new when I spent four great years here and became a family with my senior classmates of 2014.
Are we ever really ready? Probably not. But when I get ready, it’s easier to just relax, breathe and don’t overthink every decision I make because stressing keeps me from being happy and that is the number one thing I want to take with me.. Happiness.
