The month of February is the month full of mixed emotions, random chocolate choices in a red heart-shaped box, tissues, and a giant teddy bear that is way too excessive but greatly appreciated. As the month starts out and the days pass by, it becomes clearer who has a valentine and who despises the holiday.
As ideas are proposed, rentals are purchased, and reservations are made, the holiday seems to come to life. Love is in the air, and it’s contagious! Spending the day with your loved one or someone special is a great way to have a good time and spend money. Celebrate the found love that has come your way and express how thankful you are to have someone else to enjoy life with.
Though having a valentine looks rewarding, others find joy in having the “Forever Alone” kind of attitude. Walking through school and seeing the decorations and couples exchanging gifts isn’t easy for those walking alone, and not receiving flowers with cute hand writing with your name on it is devastating. Not being asked to be someone’s valentine can be heartbreaking and may cause for buying two boxes of tissues, but at least you know you have a couch full of goodies and movies to satisfy your needs. People have a love or hate relationship with Valentine’s Day that will only subside to love when the majority is participating in all that it has to offer.
This holiday is meant only for good intentions, such as promoting love. Some bitter people say all it does is state the disgusting love throughout the world, though that’s the loneliness talking. Others mention all of the fun things that they have gotten to do and look forward to sharing more experiences with their loved ones. The beauty in love and friendship is all around us in many ways.
Plan something fun, buy expensive things, and show the most amount of love you have in you with someone special because if anything, today’s the day. When you think about it, some love is disgusting but in cute ways and worth waiting for. Don’t worry to those without valentines, next year is only 365 days away and who knows, maybe you’ll end up with a giant teddy bear taking up your bed.
