All the stores, malls, and radio stations have been throwing it in our faces since early October, but the holiday season is finally upon us. The streets are glowing with decorations and Christmas trees are standing prominently in the windows decked out in colorful lights and ornaments, and you can’t walk into a single place without hearing the classic carols floating through the air. It really is the most wonderful time of the year.
Anyone who says they hate this time of year is probably lying, because there’s something for everyone to love during the holiday season, whether it be watching all of the specials on TV or having an excuse to pack yourself full of sweets and cookies. Everything leading up to the holidays is exciting as well such as getting together with family that hasn’t been around in ages or watching gifts gradually pile up under the tree. Christmas brings out an amazing feeling of cheerfulness in so many people, not only that but seeing how eager the younger kids get the closer Christmas approaches brings about memories of how that was once us writing ridiculous wish lists to Santa full of things that probably wouldn’t make it under the tree, thinking that Christmas would never get here fast enough, and trying to stay up all night to see if Santa can be seen.
Christmas also brings out generosity in people. There’s no better feeling than seeing how happy a loved one is after opening a gift from you. But also, donating to charities such as Toys for Tots leaves an amazing feeling with you. There are so many families who have no idea how they will put gifts under the tree for their families, but when individuals can donate, it eases these worries so that these families in need can enjoy Christmas just as much as everyone else.
Now here we are, with less than a month to go, and I doubt I’m the only one who is incredibly excited. Like the song goes:“It’s the most wonderful time of the year.” Merry Christmas!
