Children, teens, and adults everywhere around the world are either bullies or the victim of a bully. It’s estimated that 160,000 kids miss school every day to avoid confrontation with an attacker. One to seven students in grades K-12 are either being bullied or doing the bullying. No matter how you look at it needs to stop.
In school surveys, 71% of kids admit that at their school there is a bullying problem. That’s not even counting the schools that don’t come forward and admit that there are bullies and they are being attacked. Everywhere you go people say things, do things, and insinuate things to be mean. How can one be rude to others when they know how hard life is without a hassle?
Just thinking about how the numbers will increase in a few years and how it gets harder and harder to put children through that. Some parents result to private schools or homeschooling, but there is bullying at private schools and even though children are at home being taught there is still the constant use of the internet. Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Instagram etc. that you can post anything and everything without supervision. Sitting behind a screen and typing mean comments is still bullying and pathetic, but can affect a person deeply. Some adults result to quitting their job and working at a downgraded establishment that doesn’t pay as well as what they needed to get by, instead of bringing it up and resolving the issue with their supervisor.
There are a few more types of bullying other than the usage of the computer: verbal; saying rude or cruel things unnecessarily, physical; hitting, kicking, or any kind of punishment with hands or feet and mentally; doing things that will get under their skin and disturb their self-conscious. Saying ruthless comments to put someone else down to build you up is cruel and should be stopped immediately.
Most bullies have some sort of problem that is making them have anger issues. One type of issue that is the common answer to why bullies bully is they were abused or raped, and that is what is making them have aggression. They may have trust issues and feel overwhelmed at home and take it out on kids at school or co-workers in the work place. Just imagine how hard it would be to go to a job that you need to have to support your children and pay your bills and there is a bully. No matter what age you are, constantly, without an end, bringing someone down will not only scar them but potentially turn their life around, and not for the better.
Being abused at home or having a condition that makes a person act with aggression isn’t right, but neither is taking it out on your peers. Reach out in a loving way; if you are a victim or the bully, there is always help out there for you. Talk to a parent or leader, or get help from other co-workers and help get through the issue together. The key thing to remember is you are not alone. There is always someone going through something similar as to what you are going through and helping each-other out with help in the long run. Bullying is not only offensive but is life taking. Pushing another to their absolute limits where they are ready to give everything up, which could potentially be their life, and get rid of the pain, is mortifying.
