Thanksgiving is the time of year when family members spend time together, and since no one family is the same, no Thanksgiving tradition is either. Some are all about the football game, others are more traditional, some play Draw It, Charades, or Honey, I Love You, but every time there is a sense of thankfulness for what we have.
Every year there is the preparation of Thanksgiving. There is always grocery shopping for the best turkey and ingredients for your favorite recipes. Mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, stuffing, ham, and pumpkin pie are the classics of Thanksgiving, but there are those who have special recipes such as Pineapple stuffing, which was considered a side at my house but always seemed like dessert, so every year I remember feeling so special that I got to have dessert with my meal and then pie afterwards. Mashed potatoes with cream cheese, regular cheese, and bacon; Sprite mixed with orange sherbet; ham covered in pineapple rings, cherries, and cherry juice are just a few other Thanksgiving specialties.
There is always excitement for Thanksgiving weekend, whether it’s for family time with games or Black Friday. Spending hours just laughing with your family can be one of the best moments. Black Friday is when you can go shopping and actually have truly outrageous stories the next day about it. Thanksgiving weekend is always full of memories that are remembered for years.
The most important thing about Thanksgiving though is being thankful. The small things are often what you miss the most when they are gone. Thank your family and friends for being there for you, and be thankful what you have, instead of complaining you don’t have more. That is the main meaning of Thanksgiving: to be thankful for your life and what you do have in it.
