Recently, Jacksonville High School acquired new rules and changes for the 2013-2014 school year. Some are not so big of a change and some are a lot different than last year. Many of the rules involve clothing items and phones, and some of the changes include where to meet for your bus and to sit in the cafeteria in the morning until dismissed, there are also some changes to Crimson Pride Level expectations.
Jacksonville High School has banned yoga pants, hats, and cell phones. If the pants are excessively tight or do not have back pockets, a student will be asked to change. Sagging pants and shirts without sleeves are also not permitted. If your phone is out in the morning, in the halls, or in a classroom, you could receive a TMR and have it confiscated until the end of the day. Hats, hoods, and sunglasses are not allowed to be worn in the building, you will be asked to remove them.
Changes have taken over, too! Buses now meet in the back parking lot, and students who ride any bus should wait in the cafeteria after school until the bus arrives. In the morning, students must sit in the cafeteria until 7:50 or until you are dismissed on Late-In. Another change that JHS has made this school year is if you receive a TMR, your level on the Crimson Pride program is affected.
Upon speaking to multiple students, I’ve heard many times how they were not fond of the new changes here. But while speaking to Mrs.Lawless, a teacher here at JHS, she said she was glad they made the changes and that the academic atmosphere has improved.
