Within the past few months, Jacksonville has become a little livelier. With the opening of two new stores, business is good.
The first, Rue 21, opened in August. Based out of Warrendale, Pennsylvania, they feature an assortment of fashion trends including apparel and accessories both for girls and guys. According to their website, the word “Rue” is French for the word “street,” and 21 is the age everyone wants to be. Rue 21 has expanded to 853 stores in 46 states since the company first started. The store offers sizes small-extra large for girls and small-extra extra large for guys. Along with clothing and accessories, Rue 21 also offers fragrance, beauty products, and candy. Assistant Manager Erica King says that business is doing really good.
“We love being next to Maurices because we’re not competing against each other for business. Maurices has dress pants and Rue doesn’t, and Rue has clothes for guys and Maurices doesn’t. So we are able to help each other with business.”
Rue 21 will have a sale during the November 16th-18th weekend, and also a big sale on Black Friday, November 23.
Rue 21 is open Monday-Saturday 10am-8pm, and Sunday 11am-5pm.
The second store, Glik’s, is a family operated business started in 1897. Their motto is “big city fashion with small town service.” With over 400 associates working in 55 stores throughout eight Midwest states, Glik’s is a growing business. The Jacksonville location opened on October 4th. They carry brands such as Miss Me, North Face, Silver, LA Idol, and Roxy. Popular brands for guys include Fox, Hurley, 1897, Levi, and Billabong. Glik’s Fast Fashion comes straight off the runway and onto the selling floor within a week. Glik’s offers sizes 4-14 for women and 8-20 for men. Besides clothes, Glik’s has products such as shoes, jewelry, hats, and backpacks.
Glik’s is open Monday-Saturday 10am-8pm, and Sunday 12pm-5pm.
