Eat like your stomach is a bottomless pit, dance like you actually know how, and gamble as if money really does grow on trees! Live it up because Prom 2012 will be here on May 5 and with the theme of “Casino Night,” this year is sure to be a night to remember for the entire JHS population.
The evening of Saturday, May 5, a dinner will be provided at Hamilton’s beginning at 6:45 p.m. and wrapping up at 8 p.m. The set buffet includes a choice of beef prime rib or fettuccini alfredo along with salad, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, and rolls and margarine. Coffee, iced tea, and water will be provided as beverages.
The dance will kick off at 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s in the Ballroom, and the first 25 attendees who have bought a meal ticket or platinum package will receive casino-themed Swag Bags. John Roth from The Music Source will be the D.J. at the dance until 11 p.m. when the event closes.
But the night does not end there! This year JHS is sponsoring a Post-Prom from midnight until 5 a.m. JHS will be transformed into an action-packed casino clad with blackjack, Texas Hold ‘Em, and dice tables. Students will receive “Casino Cash” to gamble with at the games, and game-winners will get a ticket to place into a prize pot that will be drawn from at the end of Post-Prom. Prizes up for grabs include a brand-new iPad, a flat-screen TV, Cardinals baseball tickets, gift cards from various places, gift baskets, and more.
For those wanting a little more action than the game tables can afford, a 24 foot obstacle course, sumo wrestling suits, and inflatable boxing gloves will be present. Winners from those events will also receive a ticket for the prize pot.
Of course, the Las Vegas-esque themed spectacle would not be complete without real cash! Students’ names will be drawn from the prize pot to enter the Money Machine, a device that whirls money around while a person inside attempts to grasp as much cash as he or she can before time runs out. Everyone who purchases a ticket to Post-Prom will have his or her name thrown into the prize pot once, and a meal ticket equals ten name entries.
As a memento of this special night, students can have free fun photos taken with a Las Vegas background and other crazy props.
Food and drinks will be available for free at post-prom in addition to the limitless games and events.
